Weight Management

Today 75% of people, including children, are overweight; and 33% are considered obese, with that ratio steadily increasing. More than half of all gym members join a health club with the primary goal of losing weight. However, most people still struggle to make sense of the complex and confusing world of exercise, nutrition and diet. Should you have low fat or low carbs? How many calories should you consume each day? What kind of protein is best for you? Which supplements will work for you? How should you take them, how much should you take, and how often? Which kind of exercise suits your body type and physiological make up?

SCS has designed an 8-week Body Image and Weight Management program that is informative, educational and practical in its application, prepared and endorsed by a fully qualified Naturopathic Medical Doctor. The program includes our Health and Fitness assessment which enables us to identify and understand which physiological ‘set points’ are making it difficult for your body to lose weight.

Presented in the evenings, this program will include repeat measurements, exercise and diet information, and a topical discussion. Topics will include:

• Carbohydrates and the glycemic index
• Fats
• Protein
• Exercise
• Food Addictions and Comfort Eating
• Reading and recognizing food labels
• Vitamins, minerals and supplementation
• Understanding Body Typing (Ayurvedic and Western)
